Lifted aromas of red and dark fruits with a touch of vanilla and dried herbs. Spicy fruit cake with soft coating tannins and leather notes, texturally it's dense and fleshy with lingering fruit. This is serious wine of complexity and charm.

Babich were the first New Zealand company to win a Gold medal for Pinot Noir back in the early 80's. This wine is well balanced, beautifully structured and simply delicious. Aromas and flavours of bright red and black berry fruit mingling with sweet black spice-infused cherry abound. It's smooth as silk on the palate and has a lingering lip-smacking finish. Well paced and well priced Pinot.

On the palate is has juicy blueberries and black plum, balanced with gentle tannins and a subtle toasty finish. The 2017, bottled in July 2019, has a rather intense ruby red colour. The first impression on the nose offers a subtle blend of black fruit aromas with a dominant of blackcurrant. The mouth reveals a frank and assumed structure directed all in length, no excessive opulence in this vintage all in 'lace'. Smooth and full bodied with flavours of blackberry, dark chocolate and spicy oak characters, followed by a concentrated palate displaying excellent depth and density.

This brilliant garnet wine is bright and fresh, with ripe, supple crushed strawberry flavours underscored by zesty nuances of peppercorns, gentle tannins and a clean acidity, finishing on a succulent, refreshing note.

This Merlot was sourced from premium vineyards. Immediately following harvest fruit undertook fermentation on skins to lock in colour and flavour. It was then gently pressed and matured on oak to develop subtle toasty and mocha flavours and a rich smooth palate. The resulting wine a has dark, inky colour followed by a rewarding, silky mouthfeel and intense, rich plum flavour. Enjoy this Merlot with crispy five spice-scented, Peking duck pancakes with hoisin sauce and Asian greens.
